Dräger Polytron 2 XP Tox
The Dräger Polytron 2 XP Tox is an explosion proof gas detector for continuous monitoring of toxic gases and oxygen in ambient air. The transmitter converts the signal from an electrochemical sensor to 4 to 20 mA analog, HART® or RS 485 digital signal output. The unit is designed for one-man calibration, and offers a variety of diagnostics and self test features.
Product features
- Easy to install
- The enclosure of the Dräger Polytron 2 XP Tox provides two mounting holes. For easy wiring, the electronics are enclosed in their own modular housing; this can be removed from the main unit but is tethered for security. The field cable, is fed through a sealed conduit and terminated in a pluggable connector on the printed circuit board.
- One man calibration
- All setup and maintenance can be performed without opening the transmitter or declassifying the hazardous area. An infrared remote control, beamed through the window of the instrument, gives full access to the menu and calibration procedure. The menu can also be accessed using the built-in push buttons or a HART hand held terminal. All menu items and messages are displayed in plain English. Other, user selectable languages are French, Spanish and German.
- DraegerSensor technology
- The large DragerSensor size gives them their renowned long life. The built-in sensor data memory containing all the relevant gas and calibration information, together with on board temperature and pressure compensation gives the DragerSensor its unsurpassed measurement performance. This also allows the Polytron 2 XP Tox to accept pre-calibrated sensors, with minimal operator intervention, the Dräger Polytron 2 XP Tox is a virtually maintenance free transmitter.
- Stand alone system
- With the option of three built-in relays the Dräger Polytron 2 XP Tox can be used as a stand alone unit. Two adjustable gas alarm relays and one fault relay make it convenient to switch warning devices on-site, without having to run cables to and from a central control unit. The output signal can still be transmitted using either the 4 to 20 mA, HART® or RS 485 signal output if required.

System Components
Faster response – higher accuracy – greater stability – longer life. Dräger electrochemical sensors offer all these benefits. The robust and long-life sensors are used for the selective measurement of the smallest concentrations of toxic gases and oxygen in ambient air.
Tried and tested thousands of times and infinitely flexible. The modular Regard control system can be individually adapted to any monitoring task. Suitable for SIL 2 systems, the Regard system is also ATEX approved, and meets EMC directive standards.
The Regard 3900 is a standalone, autonomous control system for up to 16 gas detectors. It is fully configurable and monitors the concentration of toxic gases, oxygen and combustible gases and vapours.
Robust, reliable and very cost effective. The compact Regard-1 is a complete standalone system for the control of a single gas detector; suitable for monitors of toxic gases, oxygen, combustible gases and vapours.

Literature
List of detectable gases and vapours.
For over 70 years, Dräger has been one of the technology leaders in gas detection.
Safety Instrumented Systems are used to reduce the risk for the protection of people, plants, and environment.
Explosion hazards mostly arise from flammable gases and vapours. Instead of avoiding their ignition by explosion protection measures it may be preferable to detect them before they become ignitable.
