Safety

The safety officer ensures that all safety instructions are observed in order to prevent accidents, injuries and other safety related consequences including damage to materials and machines from fires or explosions.

Tasks

• Review the safety instructions stipulated by the client (personal protective equipment, barriers, preventative fire protection measures)
• Review the means of communication
• Equip the site with safety material
• Raise alarms during emergencies in accordance with the emergency plan
• Initiate rescue measures
• Review the work in the plants
• Undertake fire watches, safety lookouts and clearance measurements (depending on area of activity and level of training)
• Report to the safety supervisor
• Detect potential hazards

Qualification

• Basic safety training
• Medical preventative examinations
• Training in respiratory protection in compliance with current guidelines
• Experience with shutdowns
• Training as fire and safety officer
• Reading and evaluation of measurements
• Instruction in emergency behavior response
• First aid training
